Killinghall Moor Pond

In the summer of 1997 the old quarry pond was drained and filled, despite much campaigning. The builders were persuaded to dig out a pond further down the hill near Cow Beck to attract the displaced wildlife, toads in particular.

It is now home to a large variety of wildlife. This has been a good year for butterflies and there is also a family of moorhens nesting in the reeds.
